GLC envisions a world where no Haitian child is limited by illiteracy.

Our Approach:

Empower Haitian children by promoting English literacy and education.
Provide free learning opportunities for a broad Haitian community
Offer English literacy courses to students at all levels of competency, including reading, writing, and computer science skills

The School

GLC is preparing to build a school and library in Haiti in order to focus on individual preparation as well as community collaboration.

The school will allow us to develop community programs that reflect the culture as well as aspirations of Haitian people, including after school programs (reading, drama and journalism

clubs, sports activities, film screenings, music and science clubs, etc.) Our initial target group will be children from age 8-15 years, expanding to serve all age groups in the future.

Plans for the school include facilities to provide a range of services. Our building plan includes:

Library well stocked with a diverse collection of educational books in English (GLC has already built a substantial collection of books)
Work spaces for students to complete homework and research
Computer rooms
Conference space
Classroom space for up to 10 groups of 15 students
Restrooms, storage facilities, and utilities including backup generator and solar power

For our school, we plan to secure approximately 6 acres (2 carreau) of land located at Croix des Bouquets.

During the development of the school and library facility, GLC is sponsoring 40 students to attend school locally. GLC is coordinating their registration and providing funds for their school expenses. The schools these students attend are:

During the development of the school and library facility, GLC is sponsoring 40 students to attend school locally. GLC is coordinating their registration and providing funds for their school expenses. The schools these students attend are:

In addition, every September at the start of the school year, GLC supports students by distributing 400 book bags with school supplies.
